Honeycomb pillow weave Part 1
My first totally on my own weave on my loom! It's going to be a pillow for my bed. I am using some of my handspun and hand-dyed wool from Pierre, a Leicester Longwool sheep from Janeck farms. I bought his fleece last fall and I just love it! It dyes so well.
I just fluffed the fiber with my hands and then loosely spun it, plying it upon itself for a good 30 yards which is what is needed for this project.
I'm using 8/2 cotton in a steel gray I purchased at the weaving store I took the class from. I'm still learning and this will be my first real project from a pattern.
It's supposed to have a 4 pick-up to create the honeycomb weave, and I did 4 up and 4 down with 2 pick-up sticks, but it's only pull up 2 threads every time. I don't know if the 4 up and 4 down is really 8?
It's confusing even with the books I bought, but since it looks nice as it is I'm just going for it! I ended up spinning a more coiled pink yarn (bottom pink skein) and then that fluffed pink plyed on itself (Top Pink skein) I like both but I think for this project I'll stick with more traditional yarn so I used the top one.
