Raw merino fleece

Bought 1 pound of these fleece from a farm from Minnesota. I will say it's super soft as I expected from Merino but the lengths are crazy and I'm not at all sure how I can use this as it's not long at all and it's super spongy soft. I tried to mix some in the GCN/Poly mix sheep wool I processed but it just because so nippy and I didn't like it at all. I wonder if it was just the farm that sold it in these lengths or cuts that make it so hard, or if all merino is this way? I know the combed commercial cut merino is butter soft and smooth. Hardest fleece by far from the 8 or so I've tried now.
