Quilt Cave Mystery Quilt
The Quilt Cave is a facebook group I've been part of for over a year, I've joined in a lot of swaps from blocks, bags, mug rugs, fabric, and just fun quilting things.
I joined in on the 2019 mystery quilt with my group too.
I think it's going to be 8 clues so each week on Wednesdays Angie is going to be releasing the clue and we're all sharing our photos and sewing along together. I think there is 40 of approximately that I saw that had completed the first week's clue last week.
This first photo was of the fabrics I picked out with my hubby at the local quilt shop which I'm still heartbroken to say closed on December 31st and this was my last purchase there. It was only 15 minutes from my house and had the best and most fabrics to pick from around.
I need a few 1/4 yards for my temperature quilt I'm starting and I need 4 more small pieces and the thought of driving a good hour away to pick up a yard or two just isn't as fun. I could go there just to pet the fabric and just enjoy walking around seeing what's new and now it's gone. I'm still mourning I think!
Anyhow the 2nd photo was Clue #1. The directions have instructions for a 44 inch quilt and an 88-inch quilt, I've decided to go with the larger quilt. Jason also was with helping me pick out the fabric which lined up look great together in my opinion. I'm glad he's good a good artsy eye like mine to help me see new combos since I seem to get stuck in my own color schemes. Nothing wrong with that I love my pastel and floral lines, but these bolder solids and grunge are usually fabrics I avoid. I like prints and lots of them.
The last photo is today's clue #2. I had to use washable glue and double up fabrics and iron a lot to get these blocks nice and flat. I'm guessing it will have some kind of curve to it at some point which I'm really excited about. I love the cathedral window quilts and have a folded one started but is maybe the size of a pillow. I'll have to snap a shot of that one day.
