Out of this World Block #1

What I love most about January is all the new sew along startup! I've joined in on 4 already and am still working on my Good Fortune Mystery that I started on Thanksgiving weekend. This year Pat Sloan is doing a monthly block based on space things or things that are out of this world and this month this block is titled "Space Shuttle"

This is the 4th Block of the Month quilt-along I've done with her and I love how she themes each block with a phrase or a word and I can reflect on that when I'm doing these or reading about hers. I did the fussy cutting on the center of my block that says I love you to the moon and back and I think this fabric line is adorable!


I live only about an hour from Huntsville Alabama, where there is a really awesome Space & Rocket Center. We need to take a day trip there and go check that out, I've been saying that for 15 years but I think I'm going to ask Jason to go with me one of these weekends when we have not so much going on. I'm sure I could hit a few quilt shops along the way too! 

I just love this photo when stopped at a Rest Area back in Oct. 2006 of my mom and Cassandra next to the shuttle while on our way to Gulf Shores for fall break. 

I just love how this block turned out and the colors all together with the blues, grays and minty green are so pretty. I can't wait for next months!
