My First Gladiolus

 

Well, the wait for this flower was so worth it for me!

This is the first time I’ve ever tried growing a gladiolus, and actually the first time I’ve grown anything from a corm. I planted these the first weekend in June, so it took a good two months and three weeks before I finally got to see that first bloom.

And wow. 🤍

It’s the most beautiful creamy white with just a hint of blush in the center. The first thing I thought when I saw it was how gorgeous it would be in a wedding bouquet. 100%.

I honestly wasn’t sure how they were going to do. We had all that rain, followed by some absolutely brutal summer heat, and there were times I wondered if they were ever going to bloom.

But they did.

And now I’m standing out in my garden completely in love with a flower I’ve never grown before. 

Gladiolus officially earned a spot in next year’s garden. I think I may need quite a few more of these!
