Columbia Jacob sheep
This past week I attended a fiber festival this past weekend in Dickson. There was only one woman selling fleeces that I saw. She had 25 or so for 10 to 20 $each. This is a crossbreed of a Columbia and a Jacobs sheep. So it has the lovely colors and the softness and much larger fleece of the Columbia breed.
The fleece is so soft, I'll get better photos when I start to wash. I was processing a lamb's wool today and had to try this out, so I washed a small handful. It was clumpy and dirty, but it washed up so quickly. Faster than the other wool. It died quickly and so I picked it and carded it to try.
Here is the finished spin. So drafting this was super uneven in some spots, little nips but I picked those out most the time. I can't figure out why they're so many different lengths. Maybe if I 3 ply it it'll even out.
This time I just weighed it out into .6 once each single and plied them together for this squishy yarn. I love it. It's super soft and I'm not sure about how soft this Columbia sheep is normally, but I love it. I want to make a xl cardigan sweater for next fall to cuddle in. I plan to wash this 1.2 ounce and then do the wpi and measurements. I have several pounds to process, it is so muddy
